The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application process.

Applications are now open and may shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to fulfill the following requirements:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who originates from a house that has a combined gross domestic earnings that doesn't exceed R350 000 for each annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined home profits isn't going to exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and want not post any evidence of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for every annum.

Applicants are reminded to offer the right Identification Document numbers, names, and surname, as reflected inside their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are researching or plan to study at a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and my nsfas TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
